Fourth Week

Part 1: One educational goal of mine is to receive As and Bs throughout my journey in this program. This aligns with my second educational goal, getting a 180 out of 200 on my Ethics Argument Essay in my CST 300 class. I want to accomplish this goal by getting help from others. During this class, I received an 84 out of 100 on my Industry Analysis essay. I wasn’t too far out but the Ethics argument essay will be difficult. My last educational goal is to get ahead of my assignments by managing my time. I am always busy studying, working, being with my family, and trying to leave time for myself. I spend over twenty hours trying to figure out or perfect assignments and reviewing them in the Modules.

Part 2: My career goal that I can work on is making projects to start my portfolio. Starting this can help recruiters and myself to acknowledge the progress I will be making. Considering I will have more knowledge by the end of this program. I also want to learn new program languages and AWS. I need to network to help my goal of getting a job related to my degree by the end of 2025. Another career goal when I become a software engineer is to be an expert at what I am doing.

Part 3: After reviewing the ETS Computer Science test page, I feel that I would get 18% as of now. I have learned several objectives in my spare time, but I do not think I am proficient enough. I am excited to learn everything I need to know for this test to help me prepare for the test in 18 months. It feels surreal to know that we will take this test in eighteen months.

Part 4: During this module, we learned more about educational/career goals and how to build an outline for our ethics essay. It has been difficult to understand the ethics argument essay and I will seek help when making the draft and the final essay. There was a team assignment, and we spent quite a while working on it. We talked about what we are best at in a team and what work style we have. I am people-oriented and in specific I have a Get-Along work style. Everyone participated in the discussion of the advantages or disadvantages of AI towards technology. I observed two other classmates' blogs to analyze their weekly schedules and give feedback on a comment. I also am forming my interview to turn it in by February 11.

  1. Hi Raquel,

I think getting adjusted to the schedule of this program is rather difficult, but we are just starting out on the first class, so I have great faith that you will be able to figure out a schedule that aligns more with your lifestyle. I admire your dedication to both your educational and career goals, allotting the time to carefully complete your assignments while juggling the role of being a mother. In between all that, I hope you are getting some leisurely time to rest and recuperate to be ready to go again the next module. With your dedication, you will most certainly achieve all that you want!

  2. Hey there Raquel,

You inspired me to be more specific about my educational goals. I got focused on the grades I strive to get, which is A's and B's like yourself. Knowing the assignments, especially bigger assignments like the essays, is a good way to map out how I will get good grades.

Also, I see you are interested in a role as a software engineer, do you have a specific industry or company you would like to pursue?
