Here are the following parts of this week's learning journal assignment.
Part 1: The three things I am good at are asking questions, taking notes, and gathering my materials. When looking over material or doing assignments, I always have questions, and I try to figure them out to understand what I am doing. In the SQ3R method, questions are great for learning because it covers the why, what, how, who, where, and when. I also enjoy implementing note taking. I have a notebook for my CST 300 class, and I also use my notes on my computer to make sure I get everything done. Taking notes helps memorize what you are writing. I am also good at having my materials on my desk where I study. I keep everything together so it’s easily accessible.
The three things that I need to work on more are time management, where I study, and having a correct schedule that works for me. I always struggled with time management, and I felt it this week because I did several assignments on the day it was due. I also need to try to go somewhere where I can study better. I have a room in my house but my kids like coming in and out and it loses my concentration. I also need to revise my schedule as I am spending more time studying. Also, my father-in-law’s schedule changed so he can’t help me with the kids as much as I expect. I also don’t leave a lot of family time as I need to.
Part 2: Here is my following weekly activity log.
Part 3: I reviewed a few videos, and I learned about what project managers deal with and how they deal with it. A project has a team that breaks down into tasks to get the result the team needs. A project needs a deadline, a goal, and money: it should be included in a business. A project can be similar but not the same as others because then it is not considered a project. The time is crucial because if a business outputs a good plan in a timely matter there’s a higher chance customers won’t leave. It is also crucial to have a goal when making a project because businesses can satisfy customer’s needs or requests, or make a smart market move because it's an investment. Project managers deal with accountability relating to the project and need a good attitude, experience, skills, and knowledge. A Gantt Chart can help project managers deal with projects to schedule activities and tasks.
Part 4: In this part, I viewed a few capstone projects and choose a few that caught my eye. I liked the idea of the game, Out of Mana. Nathan gave us enough information about who the game is for and what it offers. He did a great job including his struggles as working alone, how he managed to work through it, and provided a demo that I enjoyed watching. I also enjoyed the Drive Diary project. They gave a great presentation explaining their project and what it offers. They included what technology they used and showed us the application. Their presentation did not need improvement because they told us what they used to design it and gave us a lengthy demo on how to use it. Drive Diary is a diary to store your cars maintenance dates to keep track of it. The last presentation I am choosing to talk about it CueTrace which is a tool that follows the sounds effects and music. Customers can edit them as they please. I think the presentation needed more engagement and enthusiasm, but the maker did give us plenty of information on what CueTrace consist of.
Part 5: I enjoyed learning how to edit other essays. I have not done that, and I think it was essential knowledge. I had to go over everything that might be wrong in another essay and try to correct it, all while also acknowledging what mistakes I have made. I learned what I also might be missing in my essay which is great to recognize because I will turn it in for 100 pts next module. Besides this activity, I also learned a bit more about how to become a better teammate.
Hello Raquel, as per the assignment: I am to act as a trusted coach so no hard feelings!
ReplyDeleteComparing your schedule to mine, yours is way more flushed out than mine ever is, although I see some room for improvement. In certain sections, you can expand study time to the specific topics that you studied. This will allow you to better recall the information later. Thank you.
Thank you for the feedback!
DeleteHi Raquel,
ReplyDeleteIt was nice reading this part of your Journal. The one part that stuck out to me was the Drive Diary project and the Cue Trance presentation.
