My Third Week!

 Part 1: I visited the time management and study strategy website and the study topic that I struggled with, and I chose was the Best Places to Study. I acknowledge that going to a library will give me the quiet place I need but it is not always possible because of my circumstances. I don’t have enough time during the weekdays after I work. I have more time during the night, but the library closes at 7 pm. Although, I will try to manage spending some time at the library to avoid distractions. I do have an office, and I don’t have TVs in there. The only problem with this is that my kids are able to come in and out when they want to. This is a big distraction that accrues so going to a library and away from my house would be a huge help. I plan to go to the library at least once a week to maximize my time while studying.

Part 2: During this week I have collaborated with my teammates to make a team project. We talked about the classes that the cs majors have to take and the benefits that come from them. I spend some time acknowledging what kind of teammate I am, and I enjoy compromising and looking for a solution that benefits everyone. Also, I turned in my final Industry Analysis Essay and started my search on the issue I want to talk about concerning the Ethics Argument Essay.

Part 3: I have read Reading: What a Computer Science Major Needs to Know, and it gave me many insights about what students who are majoring in computer science need to know. The topic included the portfolio we should make, how we should view ourselves, the languages we should get accustomed to, and what goes into programming and its aspects.

Part 4: Integrity is important to me because it gives me that satisfying accomplishment that I can do by myself. I have noticed that portfolios have a great impact when applying to companies and when looking into it, I could have simply copied codes and projects to my portfolio to make it seem as if they were mine but that is not who I am. I want to be able to successfully make my own programs and excel in the projects I make. Taking these CS online courses will help me become better and therefore be a better computer scientist. It is also important for other students in this program to have integrity because you have teammates who depend on it.

I am excited and eager to have started this journey with an amazing cohort and faculty!  The material I reviewed included tips to help me be successful in our online program and the syllabus. D uring module 0, I made a weekly study schedule, and it was my first time making one. It was very interesting and helpful to use. Second Week

Here are the following parts of this week's learning journal assignment. Part 1:  The three things I am good at are asking questions, taking notes, and gathering my materials. When looking over material or doing assignments, I always have questions, and I try to figure them out to understand what I am doing. In the SQ3R method, questions are great for learning because it covers the why, what, how, who, where, and when. I also enjoy implementing note taking. I have a notebook for my CST 300 class, and I also use my notes on my computer to make sure I get everything done. Taking notes helps memorize what you are writing. I am also good at having my materials on my desk where I study. I keep everything together so it’s easily accessible. The three things that I need to work on more are time management, where I study, and having a correct schedule that works for me. Fourth Week

 Part 1: One educational goal of mine is to receive As and Bs throughout my journey in this program. This aligns with my second educational goal, getting a 180 out of 200 on my Ethics Argument Essay in my CST 300 class. I want to accomplish this goal by getting help from others. During this class, I received an 84 out of 100 on my Industry Analysis essay. I wasn’t too far out but the Ethics argument essay will be difficult. My last educational goal is to get ahead of my assignments by managing my time. I am always busy studying, working, being with my family, and trying to leave time for myself. I spend over twenty hours trying to figure out or perfect assignments and reviewing them in the Modules. Part 2: My career goal that I can work on is making projects to start my portfolio.
